DJ Melodic Sounds
From an early age, DJ Melodic’s life was infused with music. At just two years old, he began learning piano and drums by ear, taught by his musician brother-in-law, Levander Goforth. He quickly showed signs of talent, humming along to classics like Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke." By the age of three, his father had gifted him his first guitar. In elementary school, he would often mimic playing drums on his desk—his passion for rhythm was unmistakable.
As he grew older, his musical journey expanded. He formally studied both drums and piano, further sharpening his natural ability. At 19, he met a local producer known as BNM (Beats Never Meaningless), and together they formed the rap group Da Enfatry. Embracing his new identity as DJ Melodic, he began performing and producing with the group.
Da Enfatry quickly gained traction, winning local talent shows for three consecutive years. Their breakthrough came in the summer of 1997 when their single "This World" was featured on Hot 97’s Home Jams segment.
In 2001, DJ Melodic released his first solo single, Back 2000 bw Making A Album, on vinyl. He hustled to promote it, seeking consignment deals with iconic shops like Fat Beats and targeting college radio stations.
His efforts didn’t stop there. In 2003, he helped his nephews, the group 33 1/3, produce their debut EP Triangle of Death. He got their tracks "Revenge of the 3rd" and "Say My Name" played on WSOU, a college radio station in New Jersey. DJ Melodic also introduced White Owl Bundy and Kice of Course to the world of radio freestyles, guiding them through the promotional process.
To this day, DJ Melodic remains deeply committed to the independent music scene, continuously producing and collaborating with rising artists from around the globe. His legacy is not only in the beats he creates, but in the doors he opens for others to share their voice.
